Vision
The Exchange exists to see people exchange their old life for new life in Christ and live out their purpose.
CORE VALUES
As The Exchange we’re exchanging…
IDEAS for TRUTH
No more believing that there are multiple ways to get to God, we teach Jesus as the only way and He is at the center of all we do.
Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
Teach the Truth
It isn’t always comfortable and it doesn’t always make sense, but the Truth of God’s Word will always be what we teach and will always win over man’s opinion. (2 Timothy 4:2-4)
Guided by the Truth
Yes, we will make plans with God’s help, but we will always allow the Holy Spirit to trump our plans at any moment. Because we are directed by the Holy Spirit, we know we will always be progressing and changing and that’s okay. (John 16:13)
SELFISHNESS for SERVING
A mindset shift not intended for the faint of heart! Although serving when we feel like being selfish goes against everything we know, we will serve others because it is in line with God’s Word.
And He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again. (2 Corinthians 5:15)
Serve the church, city, & the world with our time
This doesn’t mean we don’t value downtime for resting, but we will look for opportunities to use our time and energy to serve our church body, our city, and the world. (Mark 10:45)
Generously bless the church, city, & world with our resources
What a waste to live only for ourselves! There are opportunities all around us to use the resources God has blessed us with to help bless others, and we will be a church that looks for ways to be generous with our money! (1 Timothy 6:18-19)
PLEASING for REACHING
We won’t be about pleasing people but about reaching the lost. We will make decisions based on who we will reach rather than who we will keep.
Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” (Luke 5:31-32)
Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. (Galatians 1:10)
Authentic
No masks here. No hidden motives, just real, authentic, transparent people who are passionate about Jesus. (Matthew 23:27-28)
Diverse
We will see and value every person as first-class no matter what their skin color, education level, bank account, or background because that’s how God sees them. (2 Corinthians 5:16)
Excellent
We aren’t into being a mile wide and an inch deep. We believe God wants us to be focused on the things He has called us to do and to do them with excellence. (Colossians 3:23-24)
KEEPING for DISPERSING
Don’t be a knowledge hoarder, always keeping what you’ve learned to yourself. As you learn more about God and His Word, share it with other people! This is how we multiply.
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. (Hebrews 10:23-24)
Disciple-making
We’re filled up so we can pour out – this is called disciple making. As God gives us wisdom and knowledge, we will in turn share that with others. (Matthew 28:19-20)
Community living
We’re not talking about nursing homes or a retirement village; we’re talking about closely connected groups of people. We know that life can get lonely, but we believe God wants us to do life together. (1 Thessalonians 2:8)
Family building
There’s no greater target for the devil than the family. We believe in the importance of helping individuals connect with Christ so that stronger family units are formed. (Ephesians 6:11-12)
FORGETTING for CELEBRATING
We’re over pew sitting and taking for granted all that God does. We’re about celebrating life-change and actively responding to what God has done for us!
Many, LORD my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare. (Psalm 40:5)
Passionate worship
You won’t find us worshipping God the same way we play a chess match or attend a funeral. It’s more like when our favorite team scores a winning touchdown…and then some! We won’t just receive the things God does for us, but we will respond to who God is and what He has done with excitement and celebration! (Psalm 100:1-2)
Thankful living
The biggest thank you we can offer to God for making the ultimate exchange for us is to acknowledge His goodness and respond by living out our faith everyday. (2 Corinthians 5:20)
