This Week's Memory Verse

Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in His commands. Psalm 112:1

Devotional

Have you ever reached a point in life when you don’t even have the words? The phone call you never expected, the diagnosis that blindsided, the loss you think that you can never recover from. Sometimes in life on this side of heaven, where the brokenness of living can seem too much to bear, words escape us when we come before God. It is then when we have to rely on the work of the Holy Spirit to stir heaven on our behalf.

We can often forget the power of the spirit of God living inside of each of us who claim Christ as our Savior. The Holy Spirit has many roles and functions: counselor, teacher, advocate, and prayer warrior. "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God." Romans 8:26-27 NIV

Sometimes you may not have the words to lift up before the Lord, but let it be a comfort to know that the Spirit of God is interceding for you every minute of every day. He hears the soul deep groans that cry out when life gets flipped upside down. Even if the words don’t come to you, rest in the fact that the power of the Living God prays on your behalf.

Think On This Verse:
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 NIV

Ask and Answer:
Have you ever experienced a time in which you couldn’t seem to even find the words to pray? How does knowing that the Holy Spirit is constantly praying for you bring your comfort? How does this give you peace knowing that your prayers don’t have to be perfect and you don’t have to say all the right words?

Prayer

Lord, remind me in those moments when I don’t have any words to bring before you that the Holy Spirit is praying on my behalf. Let this give me a boldness when I am just afraid to talk to you to know that you know my weakness and in all things, the hard and good things, you are working all things together for my good. Amen.
